Future Organizational Plans
D3 Community Outreach, Incorporated's would like to renovate a building that
will host all of our programs. The building will be known to Durham as D3's Community Center where Desire, Determines, Development. A place where disconnected youth can see various positive pathways to a successful future. The D3 Community Center will provide youth a space, structure and supports to become leaders of their own future.
History of D3 Community Outreach, Inc
Incorporated on September 29, 2006, D3 Community Outreach is well on its way as a growing
nonprofit organization in Durham County, North Carolina. D3 has experienced many successes along
the way. D3's initial program, The Annual Hayti Basketball Summer League, is measurably more
successful each year. During D3's inaugural Annual Hayti Basketball Summer League, in the summer
of 2006, there were 73 participants. In 2007, near the end of the 2nd Annual Hayti Basketball
Summer League, D3 raised enough funds to host the first annual Youth Empowerment and College
Tour Trip for 50 participants free of charge along the East Coast from North Carolina to New
Jersey. To conclude both the 1st Annual and 2nd Annual Hayti Basketball Summer League all youth
participants received book bags full of school supplies and trophies. D3 also recognized a few
participants with specialty trophies. During the Third Annual Hayti Basketball Summer League, in
the summer of 2008, D3 saw an influx of returning participants and new faces.
Beginning with the traditional 2008-2009 school year, D3 piloted two programs the
C.E.O-Cultivating Every Opportunity-Institute and the Shining Star (G.E.D. Program) Academy
which both saw success with outstanding commitment from participants and the program
coordinators. In 2009, participants of the C.E.O Institute hosted a community dinner for over 15
families, preparing the meals themselves. In 2009 the Shining Star Academy had three graduates.
As D3 concludes its Hayti Basketball Summer League for 2009, we are proud to say that 150 youth
participated in the league and 40 were waitlisted. At the conclusion of the championship game,
youth were already signing up to participate in the 2010 league.
D3 continues to improve its programs through evaluations and feedback. We would like to thank
all of our sponsors in 2011 and look forward to working with our community partners in various
capacities throughout 2012. D3 will continue to empower youth through their participation in our free programs in the many years to come.
